On August 31, within the framework of the Conference "Ecosystems of the Future", Nikolay Kurichev, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technologies of the Higher School of Economics, made his first presentation to the scientific and expert community on the new master's program in Low-Carbon Development Management, which HSE plans to launch in 2022. “The main goal of the program is to train specialists in the field of corporate climate strategies and state climate policy, carbon footprint and carbon cycle management, implementation of climate projects, scientific research in this area,” Nikolay Kurichev said at the presentation. One of the partners of the program will be Tyumen State University, which will provide access to the carbon polygon for practical training of students and conduct courses on the biological basis of the carbon cycle. In turn, the HSE Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technologies will offer courses on financial and legal aspects of low-carbon development of agriculture and forestry for the master's program at Tyumen State University.
Climate and carbon issues in 2020-2021 came to the forefront in Russia, and one of the challenges is the acute shortage of specialists on carbon issues. The new program will be practically oriented, and students will be able to explore decarbonization options, manage greenhouse gas flows in ecosystems, understand the broader contexts of responsible environmental management, ESG agenda and adaptation to climate change.
We will tell you more about the program very soon. Follow the news of the Faculty on the website and on social networks.
