The annual Student Research Paper Competition (SRPC) offers students the chance to showcase their work, such as term papers or theses. It is a valuable opportunity to receive expert feedback and recommendations aimed at improving research, as well as to take the first steps in an academic career. Below we outline the key features and deadlines for submitting entries.

The key topics of the conference were:
1) Viktor Borisovich Sochava – geographer, geobotanist, cartographer, educator, science organiser, memories of Academician V.B. Sochava;
2) the theory of geosystems as a theoretical and methodological basis for the development of the concept of human co-creation with nature;
3) the theory and methodology of geobotanical mapping and regionalisation;
4) mapping and geoinformation modelling of geosystems for the purposes of planning rational nature management. A total of 45 reports were presented at the conference, devoted not only to the theoretical and methodological aspects of the development of the teachings of V.B. Sochava and his followers on geosystems, but also on modern methods of mapping and modelling geosystems and their individual components based on GIS and remote sensing, as well as the applied use of research results for the organisation of rational nature management.

On March 2, an HSE Open Day for prospective undergraduates and specialist students will take place — one of the largest and most significant events for applicants, their parents, and the entire university. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with students and representatives of educational programmes, plan their admission process, and immerse themselves in the HSE University atmosphere for a day. The event will be held in Russian.

Linara Khadimullina, a graduate of the Master's Programme in Low Carbon Development with distinction, is currently involved in global initiatives related to climate and energy.

From 2 to 7 September in the Central Forest Reserve (Tver region) a school for young researchers “Actual methods of landscape structure analysis based on remote sensing data, digital elevation models and field data” organized by the International Laboratory of Landscape Ecology was held. The School was attended by 24 students from 10 regions of the country, including three students from Belarus. The speakers of the School were the staff of the Laboratory, the A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution Problems (A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution Problems, Moscow). A.N. From August 1 to August 12 the student expedition of the project “Rediscovering Russia” took place under the guidance of the head of the international laboratory of landscape ecology Robert Sandlersky and researcher Marina Tsydypova. Students of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technologies conducted research work in the territory of the Tunka National Park in order to map the objects of its infrastructure, as well as accounting and sociological surveys of recreationists within the framework of the park's preparation of a recreational activity plan.

Human Capital Multidisciplinary Research Center has published the thirty-first issue of the research digest. It presents the results of the study of regional and local labor markets in the context of the events of 2020–2022, carried out by the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technologies (HSE University).

The annual conference for geography teachers “Geoslet 2024” was held on April 20. It was timed to coincide with International Earth Day, which is celebrated all over the world annually on April 22. It was established to draw people's attention to environmental problems and encourage them to take care of nature.

The Human Capital Multidisciplinary Research Centre has published the thirtieth issue of the research digest. We present the study of the natural and climatic living conditions for the Russian population in the early to mid-21st century under different climate change scenarios, carried out by the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technologies (HSE University).

On February 7, the lecture hall of the Russian 'Znanie' ('Knowledge') Society hosted a series of talks by HSE researchers and faculty as part of the 'Russia' International Exhibition and Forum. The talks covered a diverse array of topics, such as the interplay between innovation and creativity, how values are passed down between generations, debunking myths about Russia, the principles of successful communication in various contexts, and the concepts of collectivism and individualism. The events were open to the public.
