Igor Okunev

Igor Okunev has a Master’s degree in History from the University of Manchester and a Doctoral degree in Political Science from the MGIMO University (Moscow State Institute of International Relations). He is a Professorial Research Fellow at MGIMO University and Director of the Center for Spatial Analysis in International Relations. He also co-chairs the Research Committee on Geopolitics at the International Political Science Association.

Igor Okunev's work focuses on political geography, critical geopolitics, federalism, and capital cities.

In his interview for E-International Relations, Igor Okunev discusses application of geospatial technology to political geography research, questions the influence of space on political decisions and reflects whether science is capable to provide instruments for solving territorial disputes.
