The Spring Series of Seminars of the International Laboratory of Landscape Ecology Has Started
On April 17, 2024, the first seminar "Landscape and ecological assessment of Lake Kezenoi-Am and its surroundings for the purpose of master planning of the territory" was held.
Daniel Degtyarev, the research intern of the International Laboratory of Landscape Ecology, presented the results of a comprehensive assessment of the landscapes of the Makazhoy basin in the vicinity of Lake Kezenoy-Am in the Chechen Republic in order to determine their suitability for tourist and recreational development. The integrated assessment of the territory is based on the approaches used in landscape and environmental planning of territories. Natural-territorial complexes corresponding to the rank of tracts and complex tracts were identified. The landscape structure of the territory was clarified during reconnaissance routes on the ground. Taking into account the properties of natural-territorial complexes and existing main threats, a scheme for the spread of dangerous processes, a scheme of the ecological framework of the territory is proposed, indicators of the stability of natural-territorial complexes to various types of stress are worked out, a map of cultural landscapes is built, types of tourist attractors are analyzed, sites for potential development of the territory and a scheme of functional zoning for these sites are proposed. The potential consequences of involving the landscapes of the Makazhoy basin in the tourist and recreational sphere of the Chechen Republic were assessed. The analysis of the territorial planning options proposed by the administration has been carried out. Recommendations have been developed for the rational use and sustainable development of the tourist and recreational cluster in the vicinity of Lake Kezenoi-Am. Scenarios for the revitalization of the Makazhoy basin using traditional land uses for this area have been developed.
The work was carried out in collaboration with Elena Nagornaya, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technologies of the Higher School of Economics.
