The Autumn Series of Seminars with the Participation of a Leading Foreign Specialist, Academic Supervisor of the Laboratory F.A. Tatarinov Has Started

The International Laboratory of Landscape Ecology in the period from October 31 to December 05, 2023 conducts the series of seminars on the topic "Current methods and approaches in landscape and environmental research". On October 31, the first seminar of the series was held on the topic "The impact of precipitation reduction on the water balance and ecosystem sustainability according to FLUXNET data"

Climate forecasts regarding water balance

Climate forecasts regarding water balance
F. Tatarinov

At the seminar, the academic supervisor of the laboratory and the consultant of the Research Institute named after H.Weisman (Israel) Fyodor Tatarinov spoke about the study based on FLUXNET data on moisture flows for various natural biomes. The report analyzes the dependences of evapotranspiration (ET) and water balance (WY) on annual precipitation amounts, minimum precipitation values for various biomes (at which WY=0). In particular, it was noted that with precipitation up to ~500 mm, ET corresponds well to the Budyko curve, with higher precipitation it deviates downwards from it, saturation occurs. Data on forecasts of changes in WY by the end of the XXI century based on global models were also presented.
