The Scientific Seminar "GIS Tools for the Study of Transport Accessibility in Urban Landscapes on the Example of Nizhny Novgorod"

On December 15, 2022, the final seminar of the series "Current approaches and methods in landscape and ecological research" was held.

The senior researcher of the laboratory Natalia Shartova, interns researchers Polina Koksharova and Alexander Kostyuk told that the urban environment plays an important role in shaping the health and lifestyle of the population. Urban landscapes can contribute to the manifestation of physical activity of a person. An urgent task is to identify and evaluate the parameters of the urban environment that can affect the desire and ability of a person to move on foot. The report presented the experience of assessing the territory of Nizhny Novgorod in terms of the connectivity of streets, the diversity of the urban environment as places of attraction of the population and the availability of green infrastructure. The focus of the study is on the use of open data and the use of GIS tools for evaluation.
